Play It Your Way
Fanatical Basketball offers both a quick play option, for when you just want a game or two of basketball, or league play, for long road trips (or just when you're bored at home!). There's not a ton of depth to the way the game plays, at least no more than normal basketball: there's not as much need to fine-tune your team as in fantasy football, for example. The controls can also be occasionally difficult, but generally this isn't a problem.
Don't Hate The Game, It's Pretty Dang Good
Really, though, the game is at its best when you're in the middle of a game, enjoying it: the well-modelled ballers and the roaring of the crowd will draw you right in.
